On the morning of March 25, 2024, at Nam Dinh Vu Port (belonging to Gemadept Corporation), the Port’s Board of Directors held the launching of the 2024 Tree Planting Ceremony. The event was attended by representatives of the Dinh Vu Industrial Park Management Board, leaders of Gemadept member units in Hai Phong, and port employees. The theme of the event was “GREEN FORWARD – Nurturing Sustainable Green Values.”
At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Hau, Deputy Director of the Port, shared: “We hope to bring deep trust and awareness to each individual here today. Just as a year begins with spring and life begins with youth, the Tree Planting Ceremony is a wish for each of us: to sow green seeds in early spring for four peaceful seasons. Remember, the most favorable time to plant a tree is either 10 years ago or today.”
During the ceremony, over 100 perennial trees, including coconuts and casuarinas, were planted, transforming 500 square meters of the logistics yard area behind the port; strategically avoiding areas with underground infrastructure as per the design. These resilient plants, carefully selected to thrive in the wave- and wind-exposed soil of the area, require minimal maintenance. Their characteristics also resonate with the values of the employees working at the Port.

This is a tiny but significant step in Nam Dinh Vu Port’s commitment to becoming greener, reducing emissions, and achieving carbon neutrality. It is a practical action by the Gemadept Group to greenify a transshipment point on the international shipping route.
